Dan and Jo first met some 26 years ago at their local riding school. They grew up together sharing their love of everything horsey. Evenings and weekends were spent riding and caring for their ponies. They spent hours working at the riding school in exchange for riding lessons.

They both competed regularly in dressage, showing, show jumping and eventing competitions, usually competing against each other!

Jo went on to work at an eventing and livery yard whilst training for her BHS exams before achieving a UKCC Level 2 as well as graduating in 2012 from Staffs University with a Diploma to Teach in Further and Higher Education. She has also recently trained with Lindsay Wilcox-Reid to become an Equipilates Affiliated Instructor. This enables her to provide rider position analysis both on and off the horse, combined with stretches/techniques to improve perormance in the saddle through straighness, balance and correct position therefore enhancing the horse and rider partnership. From this, she has developed The Dressage Academy and Horse and Rider Alignment Clinics (See Clinics page for details) Jo’s passion is teaching and she loves nothing more than seeing the development in her clients, whether it be beginner or advanced.

Dan followed his love of racing and worked at a racing yard at weekends. This is where his stickability was developed, as well as a wealth of knowledge and experience in training for fitness.

Whilst sharing their love of anything equine, their competition paths have taken a different route. Dan thrives on the thrill of eventing, competing up to British Eventing 1* level. His particular passion is retraining race horses and he has enjoyed many successes with some of his horses.

Jo however prefers to keep all 4 feet on the ground nowaday’s and has persued her love of dressage, having self trained her current horse to Advanced Medium level.

In 2008 Marsh Cottage Farm was purchased. The farm had been unoccupied for 18months and was in quite a state of disrepair! Horses always the priority, the stables were the starting point with the house being way down on the to do list! Slowly but surely everything has been renovated, re-built and improved as they turned their dream into reality to create a desirable, fully equipped competition yard.
